All of us at GLAD, CODIE, BGLAD, TCGLAD and OC DEAF wishes you and your loved ones Happy Lunar New Year!

While some cultures use the Gregorian calendar to count the passage of time, other cultures keep track of the phases of the moon and sun, known as the lunisolar calendar. This is why the Lunar New Year falls on different dates each year, because it follows the Lunar Calendar, by the moon. This year’s date is February 10.

The Lunar New Year is all about welcoming luck and prosperity with family and friends. Though it’s still cold, the holiday represents the end of the coldest days. The festival celebrates what spring brings: planting and harvests, new beginnings and fresh starts. Many Asian countries, such as North and South Korea and Vietnam, celebrate it too.
